The area around Annecy is well known in the cycling world, whether it is for mountain biking, hybrid biking or racing. Since 1947, the Tour de France has been cycling around Lake Annecy, starting in Duingt and following the eastern shore, passing over the Cols de Bluffy (1.5 kmclimb, rated 4th category), Romme and Colombière, to finish in the centre of the village of Grand Bornand. Via the well-marked and paved bicycle routes, you will easily be able to access the mythical Tour de France route and ride on the same roads as Eddy Merckx, Nairo Quintana or Romain Bardet.
The location of the Beau Site Hotel also gives a lot of opportunities to mountain bike enthusiasts, be it cross-country or downhill cycling for the most daring. Le Semnoz, on the other side of the lake, offers many downhill mountain bike routes, and a special uphill slope that even the most seasoned cyclists will find hard to climb! In all, there are no less than 120 km of mountain bike and hybrid bike routes available to cyclists staying at the Beau Site Hotel, from the Annecy region to the Mont Charvin area, passing through typical Savoyard villages. The real bonus is a breathtaking landscape as you ride through the hills and the mountains surrounding Lake Annecy, such as the Col de la Forclaz, a real hot spot for one of the most beautiful views of the whole Lake Annecy. On the side of the Aravis massif, not far from there, Le Grand Bornand, la Clusaz or the Croix Fry ski resort are real playgrounds with the possibility of going up in a chairlift to go down the specially carved downhill slopes whichin winter are marked as blue, red or black ski slopes! It’s important to specify that for some of these routes a high level of expertise is required: Be careful before trying it out!
